Last summer, I went to England alone for a football event, which was the most memorable experience for me ever. The trip was of immeasurable values. I benefited from communicating with different peoples. This has not only broadened my horizons but also helped me better understand different cultures.
I am really interested in U.K. football culture since the U.K. has the most football clubs in the world. One of my favorite teams is Liverpool Club. It has a long history and colorful culture. The reason I went there is that I was joining the Liverpool training camp. It was a really big challenge for me.
During those two weeks, we had intensive training for 5 hours every day, so getting enough sleep and eating healthy food were important. My teammates and coaches were very friendly and they took good care of me since I was the only one coming from East Asia. Interestingly, they loved learning about my Chinese name. I felt delighted and special as I was given the attention that I had never received before.
Upon completion of the camp, I went on a one-day trip to see local architecture, which is very different from Chinese architecture. It was very beautiful and unique and I thoroughly enjoyed my trip.
The English people always eat simple food. Their staple food is potatoes, which are very delicious. Half of the meals I ate in the U.K. were potatoes but they used a variety of ways to convert potatoes into different dishes. Therefore, you can tell that although the U.K. and China have a lot of differences in food, architecture, etc., we still have a lot in common. More importantly, I felt extremely satisfied with the trip because I firmly believe I've learned a variety of cultures.
