CUHK-Shenzhen's Eighth College launches lecture series, blending science with art

The Eighth College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) launched its first lecture of the Blessings Pavilion Series on October 28.

Tang Benzhong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the dean of the School of Science and Engineering at CUHK-Shenzhen, was invited as the keynote speaker for the first lecture. Tang delivered a talk centered on the theme “Life: Career and Science”, engaging with faculty and students about the meaning of happiness and how to achieve personal values through career planning.
Additionally, Tang’s team presented live scientific experiments during the event. They showcased their research on Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE), vividly demonstrating the allure of technological innovation.
This lecture drew an audience of over 300 people, including faculty, students, and members of the public.

The Blessings Pavilion Series is a series of science and humanities lectures designed to connect science and art while bridging academia and society. The series will invite renowned experts and scholars from diverse fields to give in-depth talks on topics such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, medicine, economics, history, fine arts, music, and more.
The Eighth College — CUHK-Shenzhen’s eighth residential college — became operational this August. Currently, the college houses nearly 1,000 students.
