Shenzhen debuts smart music treehouses

Two treehouses designed as smart music studios in Shenzhen have become an instant sensation among urban residents seeking accessible musical experiences, according to a Shenzhen Special Zone Daily report Monday.

Located in Shangbu Green Corridor Park in Futian District, the two striking treehouse studios — one for guitar and one for drums — are perched among the trees in what was once an ordinary roadside lawn, now transformed into a charming pocket park that invites passersby to pause and explore.

The treehouses operate 24/7 and can be reserved in advance. Each is equipped with a variety of instruments, including smart stringless guitars, making them suitable for both experienced musicians and complete beginners. Thanks to effective soundproofing, music played inside is barely audible from the surrounding park and streets.

The drum room features electronic drums and stringless smart guitars with LED light prompts on the fretboard, enabling beginners to play songs easily via a connected app, while the piano room is equipped with a touch-screen electronic piano and smart music library covering classical pieces to contemporary hits.

How to use:

Reservation: Book 30-minute (8 yuan/US$1.1) or 60-minute (15 yuan) slots via the WeChat mini-program "琴小站" ("Piano Station")

Access: Scan the QR code on-site during reserved time to unlock the door

Privacy: Exclusive use during booked sessions ensures undisturbed practice
