Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu Province held an investment promotion conference in Shenzhen on Nov. 11. At the event, companies from Shenzhen and other Gansu regions signed agreements for 10 projects with counterparts in Gannan, with a total contract value of 3.02 billion yuan (US$424.31 million). In his address, He Moubao, Party Secretary of the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, described Gannan as a region of striking ecological beauty and highlighted its vast grasslands, clear rivers, lakes and wetlands, millennia-old ethnic cultures, and diverse folk customs. Across the prefecture’s seven counties and one city are 41 tourist sites rated A or above — each contributing to the area’s combined appeal.
“The region’s Nine-Colored Gannan Shambhala is widely known; the cultural-tourism brand Sacred Gannan: Journey of the Heart has been fully launched; and the Flower-Adorned Road blends the plateau’s grandeur with the gentle elegance of Jiangnan,” he said. “Gannan is a fertile plateau with enduring appeal, and we welcome partners to join us in its transformation and the development of green brands.”

Representatives of enterprises from Shenzhen and Gansu signed investment agreements for 10 projects with counterparts in Gannan.
As one of China’s five major pastoral regions and nine key forest areas, Gannan boasts some of Asia’s finest natural pastures and has been designated “China’s Yak-Milk Capital.” Its yak and Tibetan sheep produce organic, eco-friendly functional foods. Authentic local medicinal herbs — such as astragalus, codonopsis, Lamiophlomis rotata, and Tangut rhubarb — are rich in active ingredients and favored by domestic and international consumers.
The prefecture also has significant hydropower resources, strong wind-power potential, and abundant mineral deposits: 290 confirmed mineral sites have been identified, including more than 700 tons of gold, placing Gannan among the nation’s leading reserves.
He added that Gannan will provide concierge-style services for business registration, policy support, resource allocation, and key input guarantees to ensure investors receive efficient, convenient assistance.
At the event, promotional videos for Gannan and Zhouqu County were screened, and officials from relevant prefectural departments and Zhouqu introduced the region’s cultural and tourism assets and promoted investment opportunities.
