Beginning Nov. 20, the number of entry checkpoints authorized to issue a one-time valid Taiwan Compatriot Permit has been increased to 100 locations, according to the Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO).

The 100 ports comprise 56 aviation ports, 27 maritime ports and 17 rail and road ports. The expanded network spans the country — from Kashgar and Horgos in the northwest to Fuyuan and Suifenhe in the northeast; from Youyiguan and Mohan in the southwest to the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge and Pingtan Port in the southeast — giving Taiwan visitors more convenient and secure entry options.

Two special benefits for Taiwan residents visiting the Chinese mainland have been specified. First, applicants for the Taiwan Compatriot Permit will be exempted from the document fee. Second, first-time visitors can enjoy free admission to more than 3,000 scenic spots across the Chinese mainland.

The TAO said the measures are part of broader efforts to improve cross-Strait people-to-people exchanges and lower practical barriers to travel.

Prospective visitors are urged to check specific port rules and reservation requirements in advance and to complete any necessary applications before travel.
