Vietnamese social media creators bring SZ tech to millions

A delegation of 12 popular social media content creators from Vietnam visited the Xiaomi Fans Club store at the company’s Shenzhen headquarters in Nanshan District yesterday, their cameras buzzing to capture the tech giant’s latest innovations for millions of followers.

The delegation began a two-day trip in Shenzhen on Tuesday as part of a larger cultural exploration tour of China organized by the China International Communications Group.

At Xiaomi’s Shenzhen headquarters, the group tried out the company’s electric vehicles. Vlogger Nguyen Hong Hanh, whose TikTok account (@nghonghanh41) has over 314,000 followers, was particularly impressed by a vehicle’s quick acceleration and seat massage functions.

“Although my content focuses on makeup and skincare, I think I can share tech things because girls can use technology and the latest phones for beautiful photos,”Nguyen told Shenzhen Daily.

Bui Ngoc Ha, another Vietnamese social media creator with over 550,000 followers on TikTok (account @kiara.yuhe), stated that she is a fan of Xiaomi and that many of her home appliances are from the brand. She appreciated the chance to visit the store.

“I am excited to share my experience in Shenzhen with my audience and show them all the high technology the city has to offer. I made a video about the drone delivery service at a public park and robot delivery service at my hotel. These were very interesting experiences,” said Chu Diem Quynh, whose TikTok account (@cdqtit99) has nearly 1 million followers.

For many of the Vietnamese vloggers, this was their first time in Shenzhen. They said they were deeply impressed by the city’s technological advancements.

“This is a new city, and I have read a lot about how it grew from a small fishing village to the modern city it is today. I am really impressed by the tech here. Yesterday, we tried a drone delivery service at a park. I already made a video and I think it will be a quick hit on my social media platforms,” said Bui.

“Before this trip, I learned everything about China from videos, most of which were about its natural beauty. But this time, I am seeing the tech part of China in person. Shenzhen’s electric vehicles, technology, and buildings are great,” said Nguyen.

“I can see that technology companies are gathered here, and the level of innovation is top-tier compared to other countries,” said Chu. Following the visit, Chu also expressed her belief in significant potential for cooperation between Vietnam and China in fields such as logistics, technology, and education.

During their stay in Shenzhen, delegation members also visited OPPO, Nantou Ancient City, and the global ocean research vessel “Deep Blue Dream 2035.” Before Shenzhen, the delegation visited Shanghai and Guangzhou.
