​Starting 9 a.m. today, Shenzhen motorists can apply to drive their Shenzhen-licensed vehicles into Hong Kong, following the latest expansion of the “Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles” policy jointly announced by Guangdong and Hong Kong authorities.

The “Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles” scheme is extended for another five years, until June 1, 2031.

The General Administration of Customs announced 20 new initiatives to streamline cross-border trade and customs cooperation across the GBA, targeting faster clearance times and deeper regulatory alignment with the two special administrative regions.

Starting next month, Hong Kong vehicles traveling north across the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) into Guangdong Province will no longer need reservations Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The chang applies with some exceptions.

Since the official implementation of policies regarding the northbound travel for Hong Kong and Macao vehicles, residents of Hong Kong and Macao have shown a heightened enthusiasm for driving to mainland China for leisure. The traffic volume at the Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge for entry and exit has repeatedly hit new highs.
