Unlike the high lines in New York and Paris that have been converted from an obsolete line, the Bao’an Exhibition High Line Park is a purpose-built elevated city spine, a green promenade stretching like a ribbon in the air above your head.

Near the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, the Expo Park is an elevated mixed-use space combining parkland, shops, restaurants, and public art.

The Tidal Wetland Park at Shenzhen Bay in Nanshan District opened to the public Friday after renovation.

Shenzhen’s tallest mountain at 944 meters high, Wutongshan and its two lesser peaks comprise a 31.8 square kilometers national park riddled with thigh-burning hiking trails.

​The oldest park in Shenzhen is also one of the best for strolling, thanks to its recessed, bowl-like landscaping which serves to completely shut out the surrounding noise.

Rencailin Park caters to a diverse range of age groups. Measuring 254,000 square meters, the park consists of two children’s playgrounds equipped with slides, sandboxes, swings, trampolines and jungle gyms, ensuring children have endless entertainment. For sports enthusiasts, the park offers two soccer pitches, two tennis courts, and two basketball courts, all available free of charge.

Creek-tracing trail, where lush trees provide ample shade, creates a cool and pleasant atmosphere even in summer. In this serene and peaceful environment, the gentle sound of flowing creek water and birdsong is particularly clear and soothing.

Shenzhen is renowned for an extensive network of greenways and hiking trails totaling more than 200 kilometers. Part of the network is the Talent Greenway (Rencai Greenway) in Longhua District, the country’s first green path themed around talent and civic life.
