The Shenzhen Bao'an Marathon 2023 kicked off at the Coastal Square in Bao'an District on Dec. 31, attracting over 20,000 participants from 19 countries and regions.

Beachgoers heading to the popular Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches in Yantian District now have the convenience of using the Shenzhen Metro Line 8 Phase 2, commencing operation Dec. 27. This extension encompasses the Honganwei, Yantianxu, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha stations, complementing the existing Metro Line 8 Phase 1, which opened in 2020, and provides access to various spots in Yantian.

Residents can now take Metro to Yantian District to enjoy a view of the mountains and the sea as Line 8's Phase II started operation this morning.

The 20th Shajing Golden Oyster Food Folk Culture Festival, which is also known as the Shajing Golden Oyster Festival, is being held in Shajing, Bao’an District. Eating oysters in Shajing during winter has evolved into an annual tradition for Shenzhen residents. Running until Jan. 1, this year’s festival boasts the participation of 55 food vendors from Shajing, alongside major catering brands, offering an array of traditional specialties such as fried oyster pancakes, crispy fried oysters, oyster porridge, charcoal-grilled oysters, and pan-fried golden oysters.

A giant inflatable rubber duck sailed into the waters of Shenzhen Bay today, attracting flocks of spectators. This creation of Dutch conceptual artist Florentijn Hofman is a highlight of the 2023 Shenzhen Bay Public Art Season which opened today.

As part of the Shenzhen Creative December event, a floral design competition was held Dec. 9 at the Art Design Center in Luohu District.

Every year from October through April of the following year, migratory birds travel thousands of miles along the East Asia-Australia Flyway to their wintering grounds or stopovers in Shenzhen. Thanks to the improved ecosystem and habitat diversity, Shenzhen has become a paradise for birds, and birders can observe more than 100 species here during the migratory bird season.

The 2023 GLDC (Gang Long Dance Championships) Grand Final, which is being held from Dec. 12 through 17 in the Luohu Gymnasium, brings together over 5,000 elite dancers from more than 20 provinces across China to compete for the annual championship in various categories.

The Nanshan Foreign Language School (Group) (NSFLS) held its sports festival at Shenzhen Bay Sports Center from Tuesday through today, gathering three schools under the group to compete in the track and field.
