A group of eight expats, mostly international students in Shenzhen, gained firsthand insight into the city’s extraordinary urban evolution during visits to two of the city’s landmark museums Aug. 16.

Evan Kail, the American writer who gained wide recognition in China for donating a WWII photo album to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago, appeared at Shenzhen Book City CBD Store for the launch of his new book, Through the Storm, on Aug.16.

Having attended the World Conference on Sinology 2025 held in Shenzhen, Dario Famularo, a postdoctoral researcher at the Belt and Road Academy of Beijing Language and Culture University, offered a glowing assessment of Shenzhen, describing it as a window into China’s future and a beacon of modernization and openness.

The second stop of the Activities for Expats to Experience the Internationalized Longhua District — "Explore Longhua · Cycle Around Guanlan" started along the Niuhushui Greenway. International friends from 15 countries formed a "Green Cycling Squad", cycling along the 7-kilometer ecological corridor to explore Longhua's green and eco-friendly lifestyle.

During an in-depth expedition to green energy facilities and landmarks in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Guangzhou from July 9 to 11, eight content creators from the U.K., Brazil, India, Russia, Egypt, Montenegro, Thailand, and Italy witnessed firsthand the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s sustainable development initiatives. To ensure smooth communication between the vloggers and local reception staff — and to support accurate understanding of each location’s story — Shenzhen-based tech company Timekettle provided the latest simultaneous translation devices for the event.
