The Shenzhen Week at the China Pavilion of the 2025 Osaka Expo was officially inaugurated at Yumeshima artificial island in Osaka, Japan today.  The event, through the captivating fusion of cutting-edge technology and intangible cultural heritage, has opened a gateway for Shenzhen to integrate with the world, allowing global visitors to witness the youthful dynamism of Shenzhen, China’s innovation-driven city.  

Having dedicated himself to DNA damage repair for nearly 40 years, Shunichi Takeda, a distinguished professor at Shenzhen University’s Medical School, has long been passionate about the research. Now, he hopes to serve as a bridge, encouraging more Japanese researchers to collaborate in Shenzhen.

Shimizu Shosei, former attending physician at the Proton Therapy Center of the University of Tsukuba Hospital in Japan, now regards Shenzhen as his second hometown. As an expert on proton therapy for pediatric tumors, Shimizu is driving breakthroughs in, and the popularization of, proton therapy technology in China.
