Meaning:

“等” means “to wait,” and “党” means “party,” that is, “a group of people sharing a cause, the same beliefs and guidelines.” Coined by Chinese netizens, this term refers to the kind of people who would rather wait for a reduction in prices, an upgraded version or after others have tried a new product or service and posted detailed comments than pay for the new product or service, often pricy, as soon as it is released. When the price has actually been lowered for the product or service, people would say, “This is a victory for ‘the waiting party.’”

Example:

A: 你买了新的苹果手机吗?

Nǐ mǎile xīnde píngguǒ shǒujī ma?

Did you buy the latest version of the iPhone?

B: 没有。我决定做一个等等党!

Méiyǒu。Wǒ juédìng zuò yīgè děngděngdǎng!

No. I decided to wait until it’s cheaper.
