2 new COVID cases reported

Shenzhen reported a locally transmitted confirmed case of COVID-19 and an asymptomatic infection Monday, the city’s health commission said yesterday. The city reported no locally transmitted COVID cases for 16 days between April 23 and Sunday.

The confirmed case involved a 25-year-old man who lives in the Nanhang Mingzhu Huayuan residential compound in Hangcheng Subdistrict, Bao’an District. He had returned from outside of Guangdong Province.

The asymptomatic patient is a 41-year-old woman who lives in the Vanke Fifth Garden residential compound in Bantian Subdistrict, Longgang District. She was a close contact of the above-mentioned confirmed case.

Both patients have been transferred to the city’s designated medical facility for COVID treatment and are in stable condition, the health authority said. Epidemiological investigation related to the new COVID cases is under way.

Citizens are advised to keep following precautions such as wearing masks, frequent hand washing, keeping rooms well ventilated and maintaining social distancing, and to cooperate with epidemic prevention and control measures.
