China’s online retailer JD.com opened its sixth brick-and-mortar 7Fresh supermarket in Shenzhen on Friday. The new fresh food market is located at Qufang Shuiwei Life Square in Futian District.

The new store is positioned by JD.com as the center of the 7Fresh supermarket chain business in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the firm aims to provide for more than 200,000 customers in Guangdong Province. On Friday a variety of sales promotions and 30-minute delivery services were launched for grocers.

Depending on JD.com’s advantages in the supply chain, 7Fresh provides 6,000-plus categories of goodies from all over the world. Customers can also have raw materials processed by the store’s restaurants and can dine in the supermarket.

In addition to the new one in Shuiwei, there are other five 7Fresh supermarkets in Shenzhen. The opening of the new supermarket marks the formation of a fresh food retail network across Futian, Bao’an and Longgang districts, which is expected to change the business pattern of Shenzhen’s omnichannel real-time retail sector.

“7Fresh will utilize JD.com’s cross-category supply chain capability to provide a one-stop shopping experience. We will continue to bring better products and an immersive and diverse new shopping experience to our customers,” Ning Jinbo, the new store’s manager, said at the opening ceremony.

JD.com officially announced the establishment of the 7Fresh brand in April 2017. The brand is now running more than 60 stores in 11 Chinese cities.

All 7Fresh shops that have been operating for more than three years have become profitable, and those that are two to three years old are close to profitability, according to the company.
