SZ ranks 3rd in average monthlysalary among 38 Chinese cities

Shenzhen ranked the third in average monthly salary among China’s 38 core cities, according to a report recently released by leading Chinese career platform Zhaopin Recruitment.

On Monday, the platform released its third quarter report on the salaries of Chinese enterprises in 2022. According to the report, the national average salary was 10,168 yuan (US$1,420) per month, with a median salary of 8,001 yuan.

Among the 38 core cities in China, Shenzhen ranked the third with an average monthly salary of 12,734 yuan, after Beijing and Shanghai.

Among the 38 core cities Zhaopin monitored, 12 cities have monthly salaries over 10,000 yuan. Four cities in Guangdong Province ranked high, with monthly salaries in Shenzhen at 12,734, Guangzhou at 10,993, Zhuhai at 10.834 and Dongguan at 10,150 yuan.

Financial and IT internet industries have the best paying jobs. In terms of salary changes, those in high-tech manufacturing continued to rise. Recruitment salaries in large equipment/electromechanical equipment/heavy industries went up by 5.7% month on month in the second quarter and further increased by 1.7% in the third quarter.

Salaries in the electronic technology/semiconductor/integrated circuit and pharmaceutical/bioengineering industries rose 2.1% and 1.2% month on month respectively. In terms of occupation, salary levels in IT management/project coordination, senior management, software/internet development/system integration and other management posts and technical posts remained high.

For highly skilled occupations, mastering key skills has become essential to getting higher salaries. According to the report, those in chip design, platform architecture and navigation algorithm post the highest-paid positions.

Among them, analog chip design still ranked first in salary, with an average of 39,611 yuan, up 5.5% from 37,531 in the previous quarter. In addition, China’s epidemic situation continues to drive the demand for medical talents, with salaries for cancer research, drug R&D, new drug registration and other related jobs will increase accordingly.
