Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages

Splendid China is the earliest cultural theme park in China. Eighty-two attractions in the park are arranged in geographical order according to the map of China, and most are miniature replicas on a scale of 1:15. China Folk Culture Villages is the first large cultural tourist attraction in the country that combines folk art, folk customs and the residential architecture of various ethnic groups. The two parks were integrated on New Year's Day in 2003, and tourists can now enjoy both with a single ticket.

Occupying an area of 30 hectares on the shore of the gorgeous Shenzhen Bay, Splendid China can be divided into two parts: Scenic Spot Area and Comprehensive Service Area. In the park, visitors can expect to see the miniature replicas of famous cultral acctractions such as the magnificent Terracotta Warriors, the eighth wonder of the world; Zhaozhou Bridge, the oldest stone arch bridge in the world; Ancient Star-Observatory, the world’s oldest astronomical observatory; the Palace Museum and Leshan Buddha Statue, the world's biggest palace and Buddha Statue; as well as the world's longest fresco, Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and the world's most wonderful karst landscape, the Stone Forest.

China Folk Culture Villages is one of the earliest large-scale cultural tourist resorts in Shenzhen. Covering an area of over 200,000 sq km, it features 25 villages displaying the characteristics of 22 of China's many ethnic groups. The village is renowned as a center of excellence for its preservation of Chinese folk customs. Visitors can see the Disney field versions of Yunnan Stone Forest, Towering age-old banyans from Nanbin, the memorial stone archways of Huizhou and the laser folk music fountain, to name just a few examples.
