A new shopping complex will open in Luohu District to inject new business momentum to the district, according to a report by sznews.com released earlier this week.
The complex, named Luohu Yitian Holiday Plaza, will be the second Yitian Holiday Plaza in Shenzhen. Its predecessor in Nanshan District was opened in 2008.
Conveniently located in central Luohu, the shopping complex will be accessible via Metro lines 3, 24 and 25 (the second and third lines currently in the planning stage), and several bus routes. A car ride from Liantang, Wenjindu or Luohu checkpoints to the complex will take about 15 minutes, making it an ideal stop for daytrippers from Hong Kong.
With a total floor area of around 120,000 square meters, Luohu Yitian Holiday Plaza will comprise a 100,000-square-meter shopping mall, a 13,000-square-meter outdoor block area and 8,000 square meters of art-infused standalone structures.
The shopping mall, designed by Tokyo-based architecture firm A.N.D. with inspiration drawn from the nature, aims to present a commercial space where humans, architecture, nature, art and culture harmoniously coexist.
The outdoor block area, inspired by the annual Spring Festival flower market held on Aiguo Road which many long-time Luohu residents are familiar with and fond of, will feature huge plant-themed installations by international artists.
Among the standalone structures, one will be Pulitzer-winning architect Tadao Ando’s first project in Shenzhen.
Luohu Yitian Holiday Plaza is invested in by the tourism and business management arm of Shenzhen Yitian Group. The group has a proven track record of operating shopping centers in cities including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xi’an, Wuxi, Yangshuo and Huangshan.
