Shenzhen-based tech giant Tencent yesterday launched its 2024 intern recruitment program to offer over 5,000 summer internship jobs for the graduates of 2025, the company announced.

The program aims to help promote the employment of university graduates.

The number of the summer internship jobs increased significantly compared to the previous two years. The jobs cover over 70 types in five categories, opening for candidates who will graduate from this September to August next year.

More than 60% of the intern positions are in technology, such as back-end development, front-end development, client development, and machine learning.

The recruitment will proceed online and offline. Starting March, Tencent will go to universities across the country to hold recruitment activities. Aside from Shenzhen, the company also plans to set offline venues in other cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu to allow those applicants who didn’t receive an interview notice to seek another chance.

Luo Haibo, Tencent's head of global recruitment department, said that diversity is one of the important principles that Tencent adheres to in the recruitment process, and the company pays more attention to the ability and potential of candidates and the degree of compatibility with the position, regardless of academic qualifications and college background.

Successful candidates will start their internship at Tencent from this June to August. Training will be provided for candidates to help them improve skills and employment capability. Excellent candidates will have a chance to be retained after graduation, according to the company.
