Art exhibitions including “The Tide Never Recede — Alphonse Mucha and Modern World,” “The Invention of Modern Landscape — From Corot to the Impressionists,” “Interconnection — Exhibition of Franco-Chinese Contemporary Architecture,” “MOFARTS: The Fifth Feast of Fairies,” and “Urban Vision,” will be staged in Shenzhen, bringing a fantastic visual feast for Shenzhen audiences.
Among them, the “Urban Vision” exhibition featuring the works of over 50 renowned artists stands out as a highlight of the festival. Exploring the evolution of street art, the exhibition also addresses issues such as urban space. Notably, it invited 11 artists from around the world to gather at the museum and create their paintings onsite.
The festival will also present a variety of theater performances, with many of them to be staged in Shenzhen. Upcoming performances will include famed musical “Don Juan,” ballet performances by the Ballet of the National Opera of Bordeaux, and stage play "Les Miserables." Additionally, “Forest Echoes,”a creative concert accompanied with live improvised painting, will take place at the Huaxia Arts Center.
In addition to art exhibitions and theater performances, Shenzhen will also host a series of music feasts, including a concert featuring classical French music and a string quartet, during the festival. The concert will be performed by the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House of Versailles at Shenzhen Concert Hall, while the quartet will be presented by France’s famed Quatuor Van Kuijk, one of the world’s fastest-rising string quartets, at the Bay Opera of Shenzhen.
A French literature symposium will also be held at the Shenzhen Book City CBD Store on May 25. Three scholars from China and France have been invited by the Shenzhen Publishing House to share their insights on literature, travel and art. François Boucher will recount his experiences in Guangdong, Du Qinggang will discuss creativity in both French and Chinese contexts, while Cheng Jing, the translator of “Mona’s Eye,” will share her journey through French literature and art.
