SUSTech Open Day attracts 12,000 visitors

The SUSTech held its Open Day on Saturday, attracting 12,000 on-campus visitors and 500,000 online viewers.

The activities were developed simultaneously at the venue and various sub-venues across the campus.

At the opening ceremony, Jiang Hong, secretary of the CPC SUSTech Committee, said the SUSTech had made strides in cultivating top innovative talents, building a high-level talent team, establishing cutting-edge scientific research platforms, and producing high-quality research outcomes. Through development of more than 10 years, the university had pioneered a new chapter in China's higher education innovation and development, becoming a new calling card for Shenzhen Speed.

President Xue Qikun delivered an innovative development report on SUSTech and introduced the latest developments and future prospects of SUSTech from three perspectives of building a first-class university, distinctive talent cultivation and prospects for training top talents, showcasing the school's educational characteristics and achievements.

Professor Efim Zelmanov, a "Fields Medal" laureate, foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and director of the Shenzhen International Mathematics Center, shared his feelings about joining SUSTech and his insights into the future development of the mathematics discipline.

Visitors wait in line to try their hands at operating a dynamic aircraft smulator during their tour of SUSTech.

“When I was invited to establish the mathematics center, Shenzhen is filled with ideals and vigor, and the young university of SUSTech is growing at an extraordinary pace. Now I man working towards realizing my dream of creating a world-class mathematics center here in Shenzhen,” said Professor Efim Zelmanov.

Professional introductions are provided to visitors during the Open Day.

Various schools, colleges and student organizations and clubs set up booths and display projects at the university’s sport center. Academicians, professors, teachers, and students provided professional introductions and interactive displays for visitors to gain a detailed understanding of the university.
