Shenzhen's weather authority issued an orange alert for thunderstorm in most districts except Longhua and Guangming this morning, as the city has been under a persistent downpour for the last three hours and expects more rain in the coming one to two hours.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant against adverse weather conditions, and avoid staying in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

According to the Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau, frequent rainfalls and even thunderstorms are forecast through Sunday, while showers are expected from June 17 to 19 with temperatures ranging between 27°C and 32°C.
The weather authority cautioned that the city is still in the midst of its annual severe convective weather period, known for sudden and drastic weather shifts.
After a rainstorm, there may be safety hazards such as fallen billboards and tree branches. It is crucial to maintain safety awareness and avoid areas with hidden safety hazards.
Provincewide, Guangdong is poised to encounter amplified precipitation and severe convective weather conditions. Southern, western, and northern regions of Guangdong, together with the northern expanse of the Pearl River Delta, are at risk of heavy to torrential rainfall, accompanied by strong grade-7 to 9 winds and thunderstorms, according to the Guangdong weather forecasts.
