The 38th Hong Kong International Travel Expo (ITE), which ran for four days at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center (HKCEC), concluded yesterday, drawing in approximately 500 exhibitors from over 60 countries and regions. According to the event organizers, this year’s exhibitor turnout rebounded to 80% of pre-pandemic levels, with an estimated attendance of around 70,000 visitors.
ITE, Hong Kong’s sole major outbound travel fair, serves as a platform for global travel suppliers to connect with key source markets in mainland China, Hong Kong, and other Asian regions.
The exhibition floor buzzed with themed travel lectures, interactive games, and enticing giveaways, including flight tickets, ferry passes, and international cruise discounts. The expansive China Pavilion stood out as ITE’s largest section, showcasing the unique attractions and offerings of various Chinese provinces and cities.
In a unique addition to the expo, several bookstores participated alongside travel agencies. A staffer with the Hong Kong China Tourism Press introduced that the event not only featured travel-focused books but also a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area zone, with publications like “China Tour” spotlighting Shenzhen’s cultural and tourism highlights.
Moreover, the mainland China section featured 16 cultural and tourism presentations and performances, including the debut ceremony for the “Panda Family Explores Our Motherland” book series, which targets young readers.
