SZ universities add new majors

As the results of the National College Entrance Examination, known as the Gaokao, are expected to be released soon, universities in Shenzhen have announced their enrollment plans for the upcoming academic year.

Shenzhen University (SZU) is preparing to welcome 7,000 freshmen across 84 majors, including the addition of a new major in artificial intelligence. SZU will also establish four academician-taught classes, where the appointed academicians will serve as class heads or chief professors.

The university’s various colleges, such as the College of Computer Science & Software Engineering, the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, the College of Mechatronics and Control Engineering, the School of Mathematical Sciences, and the College of Electronics and Information Engineering, will expand enrollment opportunities for candidates from Guangdong.

The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is planning to admit over 1,300 freshmen from 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities. This year, SUSTech will introduce four new majors: accounting, industrial engineering, biomedical science, and biomedical engineering. Notably, the biomedical science and biomedical engineering programs are part of a collaborative effort between SUSTech and King’s College London.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, will launch a major in international organizations and global governance.

Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, the first Sino-Russian cooperative university, will introduce five new undergraduate programs covering information and computing science, mathematical basic science, management science, painting, and dance education.

Shenzhen Technology University plans to enroll approximately 3,800 freshmen and add three new majors in artificial intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicle systems engineering, and fashion and costume design.

Shenzhen Polytechnic University will incorporate nine new majors, including big data engineering technology, industrial design, and intelligent networked vehicle engineering technology.
