Hetao unveils expanded space

After five years of construction, the Hetao Innovation Center, a hub dedicated to scientific research and innovation, was officially inaugurated Friday, as announced at an opening ceremony held in the Shenzhen Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone.

Spanning approximately 210,000 square meters, this state-of-the-art facility is tailored to cater to high-caliber scientific research, featuring cutting-edge laboratories, research offices, and supported with comprehensive facilities.

Thirteen companies have already committed to setting up offices within the premises, with an additional 23 enterprises and institutes signing partnership agreements to collectively foster a technological innovation ecosystem. This collaboration aims to provide support in areas such as data, finance, and computing solutions for cross-border finance initiatives.

The center was constructed and is operated by the Shenzhen Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone Development Co., Ltd.

Hua Haining, vice president of company, highlighted the center’s mission to support established enterprises and institutes in cultivating a holistic science and technology innovation ecosystem. He emphasized the center’s commitment to offering technological, financial, and data services to this end.

Dr. Liu Liping, the founder and chairman of HighTide Therapeutics Inc, underscored the strategic advantage of Hetao’s location bridging Shenzhen and Hong Kong. She emphasized the significance of expanding business operations into international markets.

HighTide Therapeutics has collaborated with the Chinese University of Hong Kong for two years, working on a research project currently in phase 2B clinical trials. Discussions for further collaboration with the University of Hong Kong are also underway.

Liu emphasized the unique growth opportunities afforded by the strategic positioning of the Hetao cooperation zone, which connects Shenzhen and Hong Kong parks, offering unparalleled prospects for international networking and transportation — a crucial reason for development and expansion.
