A man watches fireflies dance as he enjoys the pristine night sky of Xichong in Dapeng New Area. A ceremony was recently held to mark the start of trial operations at the Xichong Dark Sky Observatory, signaling the rapid development of another major astronomical and cultural tourism project within the Xichong International Dark Sky Community. During trial operations, the observatory will explore a multi-faceted operational model that combines community services, astronomical education, and commercial activities. From June to July, visitors can marvel at the core of the Milky Way Galaxy and identify prominent summer constellations such as Scorpio, Sagittarius, Leo, Libra, and the Big Dipper, which are easily visible in Xichong’s clear skies.
