Phase II of SZ Talent Park opens

Spanning approximately 100,000 square meters, Phase II of Shenzhen Talent Park in Nanshan District officially opened to the public Friday — the eighth annual Shenzhen Talent Day.

Phase II features several landmarks, including a 2-meter-tall “I am a Shenzhener” sculpture, Reef Square, Deer Call Hall, and the Technology and Innovation Theater. The newly opened area maintains Phase 1's ecological theme, with vegetation covering around 60,000 square meters, and enhances the park’s role as a green oasis in the city.

To cater to the recreational demands of the public, the park has enhanced its entertainment offerings by broadening leisure spaces and introducing an array of exciting attractions, including wood installations, slides, and a zip line.

Among the new facilities is a distinctive crab-shaped slide that symbolizes Shenzhen’s role as a vanguard of reform and opening up. It also references the Chinese idiom “the first person to taste a crab,” which is used to describe brave and enterprising individuals.

As China's first talent-themed park, Shenzhen Talent Park pays tribute to the individuals who have contributed significantly to Shenzhen’s development over the past decades and reflects the city’s commitment to fostering talent.

Phase I, which opened in 2017, covers 770,000 square meters, including 300,000 square meters of water features.

Also on Friday, the 2024 Shenzhen Talent Carnival launched in the park to celebrate Talent Day. The evening saw a drone show over the park that included formations depicting silhouettes of the city, the earth, robots, and phrases such as “Shenzhen loves you and is waiting for you” and “choosing Shenzhen.”

The three-day festival, which ran until yesterday, set up four themed spaces and incorporated four types of flowers into its main visual design — azaleas, sunflowers, roses, and clover. This not only symbolizes the diversity of talent in Shenzhen, but also implies the city’s support for the growth of professionals.
