TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in inspection, testing, and certification services, celebrated the grand opening of its new operation hub in Guangming District on Friday. This venture represents the company’s largest investment project in South China over the past five years.
The group’s latest expansion exemplifies a firm commitment to bolstering enterprises within the vibrant Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), said Dr. Michael Fübi, Chairman of the Executive Board of TÜV Rheinland Group, during the opening ceremony.

“It marks a significant milestone in our group’s development, in our global journey. It is a testament to our commitment to the GBA and also to Shenzhen,” Dr. Fübi stated.
With a prestigious legacy spanning over 150 years, TÜV Rheinland is renowned for ensuring safety, quality, and trust across a broad spectrum of products and services worldwide. Since entering China in 1988 with its first office in Hong Kong, the company has established labs in key Chinese cities including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Ningbo, Hefei, Qingdao, Taicang, etc.

The new hub, called the GBA (Shenzhen) Operation Hub, is the group’s second in China, with the first established in Taicang.
Covering an expansive construction area of approximately 15,000 square meters within the Guangming Yesun Synthetic Biology Industrial Park, the new hub offers state-of-the-art testing and certification services tailored to sectors that are crucial for the region’s development. These sectors, which encompass electric vehicle batteries, energy storage systems, sensors, 5G equipment, smart home appliances, health care, and more, underline TÜV Rheinland’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the GBA as a hub of innovation and economic vigor.

In early 2023, a delegation from Guangming visited the group’s headquarters in Germany. The district government announced its agreement to introduce TÜV Rheinland at an investment promotion conference at the end of last year.

From an industry standpoint, TÜV Rheinland is a well-known international and domestic laboratory approval organization. Products certified through its testing standards are distributed in over 200 countries and regions after meeting the importing country’s market access regulations and testing standards.
Local government authorities believe the introduction of the testing giant aligns well with Guangming District’s focus on building an industrial technology innovation center.

Local officials have supported the company in securing industrial spaces — a suitable location was found in April this year. Within months, the new hub opened in record time. “With all this strong backing and the swift responses to all that we needed, we have been able to establish this new lab in record time,” said Dr. Fübi.
