The 24 Solar Terms is a traditional Chinese calender system that divides the year into 24 periods. According to this system, today is Beginning of Winter (立冬). How about beginning this winter by learning fun traditional Chinese customs at a Chinese language exchange club organized by the Maluan Subdistrict Management Service Center for Expats?

Lecture and salon on bookplates

The Foreign Affairs Bureau of Guangming District will host a lecture and salon on bookplates for expatriates. The free event, scheduled for Nov. 9, will take place at the Talent Port of Guangming Science City.

Spanish corner

The topic for this week's Amy & Jean Spanish Corner will be sports and hobbies. Come and learn how to introduce yourself and your hobbies and interests in Spanish, play a game about letters, and watch an Argentine short film.

Improv night

NSIC and Shekou Improv Club will jointly host an improv comedy class next Tuesday night. This will be the perfect place for you to learn and laugh, as well as to meet new friends and explore the comedic side of yourself.

Darkwave & Goth Night

Join Café Society every Tuesday night for Darkwave, Goth, and Metal! DJ Leinad will be spinning his favorite Heavy Metal, Darkwave, Goth, and other alternative music all night long. Enjoy food and drink specials all night!

Santa Run

In collaboration with the Shenzhen Charity Foundation, Captivating is holding its 6th annual Santa Run. Santa and several hundred other Santas will be running, walking and Ho-Ho-Ho-ing along the board walk promenade for a fun festive morning to help raise funds for underprivileged children in Qinghai, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi. Register by 3 p.m. Nov. 22 to receive a souvenir T-shirt!
