Simplicity

Sitting on a small camping chair in the dim blue haze, I can already sense that the morning has the potential to be spectacular. The sun has yet to rise above the horizon, but several elements are already falling into place—the water's surface is as smooth as glass, a thin layer of clouds stretches across the sky, and it's the peak of migration season. The one thing missing? My target species... And then, they arrive.

尚未破晓的深圳湾，浅蓝的晨雾氤氲在海面上，我在岸边支起一把露营椅，预感这个早晨将会有好运降临。朝阳姗姗来迟，但气氛却已经烘托到位了——海面平滑得像一面明亮的镜子，远处的天边挂着几缕飘渺的轻云。冬天的内海湾集聚着大群大群来深越冬的候鸟，可我却不为所动。这时，几只周身雪白、嘴似汤匙的大鸟款款降落在水线边，是了，我照片的主角终于来了。  

Black-faced spoonbills—beautiful and endangered—grace the shores of Shenzhen every winter, calling the mangroves home. Mornings like this, when everything falls into place, make the early starts and countless outings with no photos undeniably worth it. It's an opportunity that can be found nowhere else but the shores of Shenzhen Bay.
