Bamboo becomes 'green plastic'

In recent years, Hunan has spearheaded the promotion of the bamboo processing chain as part of its initiative to reduce plastic usage. With over 4,000 companies engaged in the bamboo processing industry in Hunan, this sector generated revenues of 59.4 billion yuan (US$8.18 billion) last year.
