According to meteorological data, Shenzhen recorded a total of 244 days with a comfortable climate for human habitation in 2024, which is 7.6 days more than the average of the past five years (236.4 days), as stated in a climate monitoring report released by the city’s meteorological authority.
Specifically, the city experienced 170 days with a comfortable climate between January and April and from November to December last year. Pingshan (253 days), Dapeng (250 days), and Yantian (248 days) ranked among the top three in the city for the number of days with a comfortable climate for human habitation.

In 2024, against the backdrop of the transition from a moderate El Niño event to a La Niña state, Shenzhen experienced higher-than-average temperatures, an increase in comfortable days, with over 90% of these days occurring in the winter half of the year (from October to March of the following year in the northern Hemisphere). The city also saw more rainfall, higher humidity, reduced sunshine, and zero smog days throughout the year.
Regarding meteorological disasters, the city witnessed frequent and prolonged heavy rainfall, fewer impacts from active typhoons in the South China Sea, and a higher incidence of severe convective weather with strong intensity. However, these meteorological disasters caused no casualties in the city.
Additionally, following the first record of zero smog days in 2023, Shenzhen achieved zero smog days for the second consecutive year in 2024, signifying continuous improvement in the city's ecological and climatic conditions.
In 2024, the annual average concentration of PM2.5 in Shenzhen was 17.3 micrograms per cubic meter, ranking first among the 21 prefecture-level cities in the province.
