Cathay Pacific and the Shenzhen-produced dance drama “Wing Chun” jointly released a thematic film titled “Bringing East and West Together” across major online platforms yesterday.

The short film, centered on the theme of "Chinese culture going global," aligns closely with the dance drama's mission to promote the international reach of traditional Chinese culture.

In the film, powerful dance movements, Cathay Pacific's aircraft soaring across the skies, and iconic global landmarks are interwoven, symbolizing how Chinese culture is propelled onto the world stage with the airline’s support.

Earlier in January, Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific's chief customer and commercial officer, expressed her honor in collaborating with "Wing Chun" and emphasized the significance of this partnership for advancing cultural communication.

“We hope the collaboration between Cathay Pacific and Wing Chun goes beyond commercial interests to play a deeper role in promoting Chinese culture globally and continuing the mission of cultural exchange,” she said. “Cathay Pacific will leverage its role as an international bridge to help Wing Chun reach more global audiences and travelers, allowing Chinese culture to shine on a broader stage.”

This is not the first time "Wing Chun" has partnered with a major brand to produce a high-profile film.

In 2024, the internationally renowned sports lifestyle brand lululemon collaborated with Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh and eight dancers from “Wing Chun” to create a thematic short film.

The film blends martial arts with dance and uses body language infused with Eastern aesthetics to showcase the charm of traditional Chinese culture. The collaborative film and accompanying posters were displayed in lululemon stores worldwide, where the fusion of traditional Chinese martial arts and international fashion elements further amplified the global influence of "Wing Chun."
