Spanning approximately 228,500 square meters, the Taizi Bay coastal park is a world-class seaside cultural and art hub with the K11 reminiscent to a grand aircraft carrier anchored beside the bay. Opening at the end of 2024, the park is more than a traditional park, it is a destination combining upscale leisure, culture, commerce and ecology. It transforms public recreation into a dynamic and multifaceted experience.

At the heart of the park is its seaside promenade. This winding pathway stretches along the coastline, bordered by shimmering sea waves on one side and lush greenery on the other, creating a natural ribbon that hugs the blue shore.

The promenade begins at the Shenzhen Yacht Club and extends westward to Shekou Cruise Homeport, passing the Sea World Art Center. The design is part of the ambitious effort to link more coastal parks throughout Shenzhen, ultimately completing a 15-kilometer scenic stretch from Mangrove Bay through Taizi Bay to Shenzhen Bay.

Cycling enthusiasts will appreciate the dedicated right-side lane along the promenade that facilitates smooth and safe biking. Towering trees line the path, providing ample shade and a cooling break from the sun, while low shrubs blanket the grounds like a lush carpet. Restful seating areas and scenic viewing platforms invite visitors to take in the magnificent ocean vistas.

A lighthouse stands near the promenade.

An iconic white lighthouse stands proudly at the midsection of the promenade, serving both as a picturesque landmark and a guiding beacon for fishing boats at dusk. Its silhouette at dusk against the sky and sea makes it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts.

The park is particularly family-friendly, with a dedicated children’s playground equipped with slides, climbing walls, and other fun facilities. Parents are often seen strolling leisurely along the coast with strollers or relax on benches, enjoying the sea breeze and calming views. Besides walking and jogging trails, the park includes a skateboard area, catering to active visitors.

Visitors take a rest in the open space in front of the Sea World Culture and Art Center.

Beyond the park, visitors can explore nearby attractions such as the Sea World Culture and Art Center — Shekou’s first innovative cultural complex — and the Shekou Value Factory, a former industrial workshop converted creative hub. Just a short distance away, Nanhai E-Cool, a transformed cultural and creative street that once housed the Shekou Sanyo factory, offers cafes and restaurants perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors. For an authentic taste of local life, head to Shekou Old Street to savor traditional Cantonese cuisine while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Shenzhen’s historic neighborhood.

Don’t miss the chance to explore the beautiful new coastal park before the crowds arrive.
