According to the local weather bureau, the city experienced sunny to partly cloudy conditions yesterday. As of 4 p.m., the highest temperature recorded was 37.7°C at Shuanglong Station in Longgang Subdistrict, Longgang District.

The local meteorological observatory issued a yellow alert Saturday morning, the lowest level in the city’s three-tier, color-coded heatwave warning system. This is the first yellow heatwave warning of the year, and it will remain in effect until Tuesday. The alert indicates that the weather is hot and humid, with temperatures likely to reach or exceed 35°C within 24 hours.

Residents are strongly advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and to take protective measures against heatstroke and sunburn if they must venture outside. Workers in high-temperature environments should also take appropriate precautions. People should drink water containing salts or minerals if they feel unwell after sweating too much.

When temperatures reach 35°C and humidity exceeds 60%, the risk of heatstroke becomes significant. According to doctors, the first 30 minutes after the onset of heat-related illness are the "golden period" for managing heatstroke, during which it is crucial to lower the patient’s body temperature as quickly as possible.

If early symptoms of heatstroke develop, such as dizziness, nausea, or chest tightness, it is best to immediately rest in a cool place and drink cold water to help reduce body temperature.

To address heat-related issues, several steps can be taken, including artificial heat dissipation, applying cold compresses, placing ice packs under the armpits, and wiping the skin with alcohol. These measures can help lower body temperature and alleviate symptoms. If the condition is severe, however, the patient should seek immediate medical treatment.
