Visitors gather around a Tiannian 1 flying vehicle developed by China FAW Group Co Ltd under the Hongqi brand at the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show on May 31. Xinhua

The move formalizes a partnership between China FAW, Dapeng New Area, and Shenzhen's transportation and technology bureaus.

According to the agreement signed last week, the parties will collaborate on everything from research and development to the production and market expansion of flying cars, aiming to build a complete industry ecosystem.

China FAW will not only register a new company in Dapeng, but also plans to establish an R&D center, manufacturing base, and operations service center there.

In April, China FAW unveiled its first flying car, the Tiannian 1, under its Hongqi brand. It has a flight range of over 200 kilometers and a maximum speed of 150 kph.

Equipped with an intelligent cockpit system, the Tiannian 1 provides drivers with real-time information through voice and visual displays, significantly reducing operational complexity.

According to China FAW, the vehicle’s development adheres to the highest industry safety standards.
