Typhoon Wipha unleashed torrential rain and howling winds across Shenzhen yesterday around noon before making landfall at Taishan in western Guangdong around 5:50 p.m., prompting authorities to close parks and halt major transport links. The Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link was sealed at 12:01 a.m. yesterday. Parts of the Shenzhen Metro network followed, including the Airport East and Hourui stations on Line 1 and every station on Line 11. High-speed rail departures before 3 p.m. were also suspended, and the Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint closed at 12:15 p.m.
