A six-member delegation from Al Jazeera Media Network visited Shenzhen News Group (SNG) yesterday, meeting with representatives from the group’s English-language newspaper, Shenzhen Daily.

During the meeting, Al Jazeera representatives outlined their global media presence, which includes operations in multiple languages including Arabic, English, Spanish, and French. The network reports approximately 70 billion yearly views across platforms and 3 to 5 billion annual website visitors, with strong audiences in the Americas, the Middle East, and Europe.

“We’re looking to discover China through different eyes,” said Mohammed Talal Abdulkarim, who works in partnership, incubation, and planning at Al Jazeera Media Network, noting the organization’s interest in expanding its coverage of China. “Our influencers typically have 5 to 10 million followers each, and when they start discovering China, it creates a huge impact.”

The Al Jazeera team expressed particular interest in collaborating with Chinese content creators and exploring new distribution channels to reach global audiences interested in China-related content.

Shenzhen Daily representatives discussed their multilingual approach to local news coverage and explored potential content-sharing opportunities that could help bring Shenzhen’s stories to international audiences.

Both parties identified several potential areas for cooperation, including content exchange, joint production projects, and leveraging each other’s distribution networks to reach broader audiences across different regions and languages.
