China sets theme, priorities for 2026 APEC

China has proposed openness, innovation, and cooperation as the three priorities for the 2026 APEC “China Year,” while announcing “Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together” as its official theme.

The proposals were made at the APEC Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM), held from Thursday to Friday in Shenzhen.

During the ISOM on Friday, the official logo for the 2026 APEC “China Year” was also unveiled.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Symposium and ISOM marked the first event organized by China in its capacity as host of the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, scheduled to take place in Shenzhen in November 2026. The meetings officially launched the APEC “China Year.”
