Season for viewing plum blossoms and bald cypresses

From: Shenzhen Daily

One of the most poetic winter experiences is walking along a snow-dusted path, surrounded by blooming plum blossom trees. Their delicate pink and white petals are deeply cherished in Chinese culture, symbolizing nobility, humility, and resilience in the face of harsh winter.

Although Shenzhen does not have cold, snowy winters, the city remains a wonderful place to admire plum flowers. Different varieties bloom in succession, enhancing the visual splendor and extending the viewing season from mid-January to March, giving flower lovers ample opportunity to enjoy their quiet grace.

In addition to plum blossoms, bald cypresses paint the landscape with a stunning tapestry of colors. In winter, their foliage glows in vivid shades of orange, yellow, and green, create a harmonious blend of warmth and vitality.

Together, plum blossoms and bald cypresses offer a perfect harmony of natural beauty and cultural resonance — a true celebration of winter’s charm in southern China.
