A biographical film about Michael Jackson is set to hit Chinese cinemas, according to a promotional video released earlier this week by Universal Pictures on its official WeChat Channel.

Titled “Michael,” the film chronicles the life of the legendary “King of Pop” and stars Jaafar Jackson, the singer’s nephew, in the lead role.

The movie is directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for the Oscar-winning crime drama “Training Day,” and written by John Logan, whose credits include the James Bond films “Skyfall” and “Spectre” as well as Ridley Scott’s epic “Gladiator.”

Producers include Graham King, John Branca and John McClain. King previously produced the acclaimed biographical drama film “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which tells the story of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of British rock band Queen.

“Michael” is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on April 24, while a release date for the Chinese mainland has yet to be announced.
