During the Spring Festival holiday, people all over the country celebrate and enjoy their vacation in variety ways.

On the afternoon of Jan. 17, the eighth session of an event series featuring foreign talent concluded at Shenzhen University in Nanshan District. A total of 13 foreign experts participated in a Spring Festival panel, sharing their work and life experiences in the city while engaging in traditional Chinese New Year activities, deepening their sense of belonging and connection to Shenzhen.

The “Penguin Island — Exhibition of Tencent,” a special Spring Festival event, officially kicks off at the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning in the Futian CBD on Friday. The event is co-hosted by Tencent and the Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Media, Tourism, and Sports Bureau.

A highlight of the city’s New Year celebrations, the highly anticipated 2025 Shenzhen Spring Festival Flower Fair opens today, offering a perfect opportunity for residents to shop for New Year goods.

​In celebration of the approaching Chinese Lunar New Year, citizens begin to select Spring Festival couplets or chunlian, which are an essential part of Spring Festival’s decorations and are believed to bring blessings and good fortune to the household.

On the evening of Jan. 16, “My City, My Song-Folk Song Festival (Season 2)” was held at NUBOND AIR, Houhai Harbour, Nanshan. Sixteen folk musicians from Xi'an, Shenzhen, Shantou and other cities presented the ballads at the folk music concert. The finale of the “Folk Song Festival” will be presented Jan. 18 at Futian Sports Park and free tickets will be offered.

In celebration of the approaching Year of the Snake, shopping malls across the city are decorated with an array of new year ornaments.
