A community square in Shekou buzzed with both local and expat residents Saturday afternoon as the "Hello APEC Cultural Market — Uncover Oceania" unfolded, bringing the diverse cultures of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea to the doorstep.

A team of local and expatriate residents inspected bilingual public signs in Shenzhen’s Yantian District and Dapeng New Area on Sept. 18, as the ninth offline challenge of the 2026 Shenzhen Public Foreign-language Signage Improvement Campaign got underway.

People in Shenzhen will be able to experience the food, culture and lifestyle of Oceania without flying halfway around the world to the Southern Hemisphere when the “Hello APEC” Shekou Cultural Market — Discover Oceania — opens Sept. 19.

Hosted by the Shenzhen Longhua International Cooperation Center (LICC) and the Beijing International Exchange Association, a delegation of the Seminar on APEC Technologies Empower Low Carbon Action (TELCA): Roadmaps, Accessibility and Partnership, toured Shenzhen on Friday to explore low-carbon urban solutions. Visits included Meituan’s national local service consumption big data operation center, Hello Tech Energy, Shenzhen Energy Group, Futian Mangrove National Nature Reserve, and Shenzhen Talent Park.
