A singer who doesn’t have the ambition of opening his own restaurant is not a good director. The singer referred to here is Jay Chou, the versatile pop icon for China’s post 90s generation who has made extraordinary achievements in the music and film worlds and is now setting his feet in the food industry with his own restaurant — Mr. J Diner.
Mr. J Diner, inspired by the eatery that appeared in Jay’s MV of the song “The Cowboy is Busy,” first opened in Taiwan, the singer’s hometown.
But now, Jay has opened the second Mr. J Diner and the first on the Chinese mainland at KK One, in Futian District, Shenzhen. The new restaurant offers diners and fans a brunch-style menu which mainly features the most popular dishes in Taiwan and New York. Another highlight is the original roast coffee, which will not disappoint coffee lovers.
Walking into the modern-style restaurant you will notice a touch of retro decoration, along with Jay’s CDs, posters and cute little statues of Jay everywhere, which are a feast for the eyes of Jay’s fans.
As a restaurant, food is by all means what makes it loved by diners and fans. Mr. J Diner has a wide choice of burgers, pastas and salads. One of the specialties is the coffee named “Mr.J Coffee” because the coffee art is a portrait of Jay’s head on the surface of the hot coffee, which will surely surprise Jay’s fans.
