Meaning:
“食物” means “food” and “昏迷” means “coma.” Translated as “postprandial somnolence,” commonly referred to as “food coma,” the term describes the tired, sleepy feeling that people experience after eating a big meal often caused by a rush of blood to the stomach and intestines during digestion.
Example:
A: 我刚吃了几块巧克力和曲奇饼干,恐怕一会儿要上演食物昏迷了。
Wǒ gāng chī le jǐkuài qiǎokēlì hé qǔqí bǐnggān, kǒngpà yīhuìr yào shàngyǎn shíwù hūnmí le。
I have just had some chocolates and cookies. I’m afraid of getting a food coma very soon.
B: 不用担心,没那么严重。
Bùyòng dānxīn, méi nàme yánzhòng。
Don’t worry about that. It’s not that serious.
A: 巧克力热量高,必须严加控制。
Qiǎokēlì rèliàng gāo, bìxū yánjiā kòngzhì。
Chocolate is a high-calorie food. I need to be extremely cautious when eating it.
