Catch Phrase| 招黑体质(zhāohèi tǐzhì)

Meaning:

As we’ve introduced before, “黑” here is metaphorically used to mean “criticism.” “招黑” means “inviting criticism,” and “体质” literally means “physical traits.” Coined by Chinese netizens, this term is often used on celebrities, who have left a bad impression for the roles they played in movies or TV shows, what they said, how they were dressed, what they posted online and whom they dated. Once they have left a bad impression, they easily fall victim to online criticism for whatever they say or do.

Example:

A: 这个女明星怎么干什么都被人黑?

Zhè gè nǚ míngxīng zěnme gàn shénme dōu bèi rén hēi?

Why is this actress criticized for whatever she does?

B: 这就叫招黑体质,不过本质可能是因为她长得漂亮而演技不行,却总有人请她演女一号,大伙儿看不惯。

Zhè jìu jiào zhāohèi tǐzhì, bùguò běnzhì kěnéng shì yīnwèi tā zhǎng de piàoliang ér yǎnjì bùxíng, què zǒng yǒurén qǐng tā yǎn nǚyīhào, dàhuǒr kànbùguàn。

She is what we call an easy target. The reason is, I figure, despite the fact that she’s got a pretty face but knows nothing about acting, she’s always landed leading roles in movies and shows. People hate to see this.
