Shenzhen is a cradle for Chinese architects. Compared with other Chinese cities, urban architecture began early in Shenzhen. Property architecture in Shenzhen sets a model for China. In recent years, Shenzhen's architects have made a bold foray into the Chinese market, with almost half of the architectural designs for landmark buildings in China made by Shenzhen designers. The Shenzhen-based China Construction Design International (CCDI) was involved in the design for the National Aquatics Center or Water Tube in Beijing.
