International classical opera shows are being screened at Lumiere Pavilions’ two IMAX cinemas in Shekou and Huaqiangbei until Sept. 27. All the opera shows are screened in their original languages with Chinese subtitles. Tickets are 60 yuan at the door or 40 yuan if purchased via the cinema’s app.

‘Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci’ 乡村骑士•丑角
Overview: Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” and Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” are Italian opera’s famous double acts, but they were written independently. The two works, each undeniable masterpieces of the verismo tradition of realism, share dramatic concision, melodic richness and an obsession with violent jealousy. The Olivier Award-winning production sets both operas within the same village, allowing characters from one piece to reappear in the other and offering theatrical realism within visuals that are modern, yet timeless.

‘L’Elisir d’Amore’ 爱之甘醇
Overview: A poor peasant Nemorino is in love with Adina, but Adina torments Nemorino with her indifference. Meanwhile, the arrogant Sergeant Belcore appears with his regiment and immediately proposes marriage to Adina. “L’Elisir d’Amore” is a comic opera by Donizetti.
青年农人内莫里诺爱上女地主阿迪娜，但阿迪娜的漠然让内莫里诺耿耿于怀。军曹贝尔科雷带着士兵来到村庄，立即向阿迪娜求婚。内莫里诺面对这样的情敌惴惴不安。江湖庸医杜卡尔马拉来到村庄，向村民兜售“爱之甘醇”。内莫里诺喝下甘醇，但却适得其反：阿迪娜一怒之下与军曹订婚。
内莫里诺内心十分痛苦，又向庸医买了一瓶“爱之甘醇”，却无钱支付，只好用应征入伍的酬劳来付药费。阿迪娜知道内莫里诺内心的痛苦，同时自己的心里也爱着他，她拿回了内莫里诺的参军文书。最终，贝尔科雷无奈带领部队开拔离去，杜尔卡马拉因“爱之甘醇”出名致富，而阿迪娜和内莫里诺也得到了幸福。

‘La Boheme’ 艺术家生涯
Overviwe: When Rodolfo, a penniless poet, meets Mimi, a seamstress, they fall instantly in love. But their happiness is threatened when Rodolfo learns that Mimi is gravely ill. Puccini’s romantic depiction of Bohemian Paris, with wonderful music and a love story drawn from everyday life, has captivated audiences around the world, making “La Boheme” one of the best-loved of all operas.
身无分文的诗人鲁道夫邂逅绣花女咪咪，两人一见钟情。然而他们的幸福突遇危机，鲁道夫发现咪咪身患重病。他痛苦万分的意识到，他无力承担咪咪治疗所需巨额费用，只得与咪咪分手。

‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ 女人心
Overview: A winning cast comes together for the Met’s vision of Mozart’s comedy about the sexes, set in a carnival-esque, funhouse environment inspired by 1950s Coney Island — complete with bearded ladies, fire eaters and a Ferris wheel.

‘The Magic Flute’ 魔笛
Overview: The Met’s adaptation of Mozart’s sublime and mystical journey features Prince Tamino and Papageno who are sent by the Queen of Night to save her daughter Pamina from the clutches of the evil lord Sarastro.
米诺王子和他的朋友，捕鸟者帕帕吉诺，踏上拯救夜后之女帕米娜的征程。帕米娜被艾希斯的大祭司萨拉斯托掳走，以免她受到母亲夜后邪恶力量的影响。在魔笛的帮助下，塔米诺救出了帕米娜，两人坠入爱河。塔米诺和帕帕吉诺接受了一系列考验，成功进入神庙。

‘La Fille du Regiment’ 军中女郎
Overview: Marie, lost as a baby, was found and raised by the local regiment. Tonio loves her and she loves him, but when her aunt recognizes her, it seems they will never be allowed to be together. “La Fille du Regiment” is an opera comique in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti written between 1838 and 1840.
法国军队第二十一团收养的女孩玛丽爱上了她的救命恩人。谁料，这个年轻人却恰好来自敌对国。幸运的是，当团里士兵们听说，这个年轻人曾救下他们可爱的玛丽时，士兵们同意了两人的婚事。两人彼此相爱并准备结婚，但是消息传来，玛丽的亲生父母被找到了，而她也必须离开第二十一团。一切计划都被打乱。

‘The Merry Widow’ 风流寡妇
Overview: Hanna is a fabulous woman of the world who sets out to conquer glamorous old Paris and get the one thing that has eluded her — a commitment from her playboy first love. Lehar’s delightful score of lush waltzes and beautiful ballads will sparkle with a brilliant cast.
美丽的汉娜从已故丈夫处继承了一大笔遗产。她富甲一方，甚至可以左右国家经济，于是人们都希望肥水不流外人田，她能嫁个本国人。大使夫人曾当过康康舞女，在她的帮助下，大使开始着手为汉娜物色如意郎君。但棘手的是，汉娜心中已有人选。这个人便是达尼洛伯爵——汉娜的旧情人，一个不愿结婚的单身汉。

‘Der Freischutz’ 魔弹射手
Overview: “Der Freischutz” is a German opera by Carl Maria von Weber. It is considered the first important German Romantic opera, especially in its national identity and stark emotionality. The plot is based on the German folk legend of the Freischutz and many of its tunes were thought to be inspired by German folk music. Its unearthly portrayal of the supernatural in the famous Wolf’s Glen scene has been described as “the most expressive rendering of the gruesome that is to be found in a musical score.”
年轻护林人马克斯深爱着阿嘉莎，但要迎娶阿嘉莎，马克斯必须赢得一场射击比赛。为此他与卡斯帕夜半时分相约狼谷铸造比赛用的七颗魔弹。比赛过程中，当他瞄准一只鸽子时，魔鬼却引导着子弹射向阿嘉莎。
幸得新娘花冠保护，子弹反而射中了卡斯帕。王子宣布要流放马克斯。此时隐士出现替他求情称，不如改判放逐一年。如果届时马克斯没有犯错，便能得到宽恕并与阿嘉莎成婚。奥托卡王子同意改判，全剧在欢乐中结束。

‘Ruslan and Lyudmila’ 鲁斯兰与柳德米拉
Overview: In the midst of the wedding party of Prince Ruslan and Ludmila, the bride is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer. Her father seeks help from his people, but of course Ruslan is the only one able to save her. “Ruslan and Lyudmila” is an opera in five acts composed by Mikhail Glinka between 1837 and 1842. The opera is based on the 1820 poem of the same name by Aleksandr Pushkin.
在招待柳德米拉求婚者的宴会上，邪恶术士契尔诺摩尔将柳德米拉掳走。大公承诺：带回柳德米拉的勇士，将得到柳德米拉以及半壁江山。鲁斯兰与拉特米尔、法尔拉夫立刻踏上营救之旅。善良术士芬恩告诫他们要警惕坏女巫纳伊娜。

‘Iolanta’ 约兰塔公主
Overview: King Rene’s daughter Iolanta is born blind. The king orders all the people not to tell the truth to her. One day, Count Vaudemont visits the palace garden and meets Iolanta. The spark of love instantly ignites their young lives. King Rene announces that if Iolanta is really blind, Count Vaudemont will be put to death. To save her sweetheart, Iolanta is determined to cure her eye disease. “Iolanta” is Tchaikovsky’s last opera he composed.
约兰塔公主天生失明，国王勒内王将其养在深闺，并下令所有人不准告诉约兰塔实情。约兰塔因此从不知晓黑暗和光明的区别，也从未听说过“阳光”“颜色”等关乎视觉的词汇。年轻的伯爵渥戴蒙误闯花园，与约兰塔公主相遇，爱情的火花瞬间点燃，两个年轻人被对方深深吸引。
此时，王宫医师有了让公主复明的可能方法，但前提是公主意志力的完全配合。但洞悉了自己与别人不同的公主却万分惊恐，担心自己再也不能听到渥戴蒙的声音。聪明的勒内王装作要处死渥戴蒙，以激将法让公主有了配合治疗的坚定意志。最终，公主复明，并如愿与伯爵订婚。

‘Rigoletto’ 弄臣
Overview: “Rigoletto” is considered by many to be the first of the operatic masterpieces of Verdi’s middle-to-late career. Its tragic story revolves around the licentious Duke of Mantua, his hunch-backed court jester Rigoletto and Rigoletto’s beautiful daughter Gilda.
在十六世纪意大利曼图亚城，主人公利哥莱托貌丑背驼，在曼图亚公爵的宫廷中当一名弄臣。公爵年轻貌美，专以玩弄女性为乐，引起朝臣们的不满。而利哥莱托对朝臣妻女受辱的不幸大加嘲讽，得罪了许多人，终致失女之祸。
他的爱女吉尔达，纯洁、貌美，公爵乔装成穷学生暗中追求，骗得了她的爱情。后来，利哥莱托以美色诱使公爵夜宿旅店，雇用刺客将他杀死。黎明前，却发现受害的是女扮男装、已经奄奄一息的吉尔达。原来，这个获悉行刺计划的少女对虚情假意的公爵一往情深，甘愿为爱情而替公爵一死。

‘Carmen’ 卡门
Overview: Bizet’s “Carmen” is set in southern Spain and tells the story of the downfall of Don Jose, a naive soldier who is seduced by the wiles of the fiery gypsy Carmen.
一个美丽而倔强的吉普赛姑娘——烟厂女工卡门在一次和其他女工的斗殴中遭遇了骑兵队班长堂·何塞。本欲逮捕卡门的堂·何塞被她野性的美貌和桀骜不驯的气质所吸引，不但放走了卡门，还与她坠入情网。在卡门的诱惑下，堂·何塞加入了卡门所在的吉普赛走私贩行列，与卡门一起过上了漂泊的生活。
但好景不长，卡门后来又爱上了意气风发的斗牛士埃斯卡米罗，堂·何塞苦苦哀求她回心转意，但被卡门拒绝了。堂·何塞试图阻挡卡门去找她的新欢。卡门忍无可忍，将原来堂·何塞送给她的戒指从手上摘下，狠狠地丢在地上。堂·何塞用藏在身上的短剑刺死了卡门，而后坦白了自己的罪行。
