THEMED with “New Age, New Journey, New Vision,” the launching ceremony of Guangdong’s 4K TV pilot programs was held in Guangdong Television Center on Saturday.
4K resolution, also called 4K, refers to a horizontal screen display resolution in the order of 4,000 pixels. There are several different 4K resolutions in the fields of digital television and digital cinematography. In television and consumer media, 4K UHD or UHD-1 is the dominant 4K standard.
Also, the Guangdong 4K Television Production Center and the Guangdong 4K Film Production Center were established during the event.
Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong Province, attended the ceremony and inaugurated the centers.
The strategy to develop the 4K movie and television network application and the 4k industry is an important measure to implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, further the supply-side structural reform of TV media, seize the future development opportunities and boost a quality economic development of Guangdong.
According to Shen Haixiong, head of Guangdong’s publicity department, the launch of the pilot programs by Guangdong Radio and Television, the establishment of China’s 4K industry alliance, and the plan to produce China’s first 4K Cantonese Opera movie are innovative measures of the province to advance the digitization of China.
Several agreements were signed during the ceremony, including the 4K Broadcast and Supporting Platforms Cooperation Agreement and the 4K Industry Alliance Cooperation Agreement.
Moreover, the South New Media-based 4K iCloud platform and the Guangdong Radio and Television-based 4K broadcasting system were displayed during the event.
