A clothing shop equipped with a face-recognition payment system was launched in a shopping mall in Luohu District.
The clothing shop, located in 9 Square Shopping Center in Luohu District, is the first store to utilize a face-recognition payment system in China.
According to the report, customers can open a membership account for the shop via a WeChat mini-app and stand in front of the face-scanning screens in the shop to register their facial information with the system. Each subsequent time members stand in front of the face-scanning screens, the payment system —developed by WeChat Payment — will recognize them and recommend apparel.
Customers can try on outfits in the shop or scan the code on the screen to buy the items online. When a customer is done shopping, the bill can be paid with WeChat Payment at a checkout counter via face-recognition without the need for a phone.
The shop also provides after-sales service via its mini-app and official WeChat account.
According to WeChat Payment, the face-recognition payment system is an all-round upgrade of the smart retail solution, which is aimed at providing smart retail by using cutting-edge technologies.
