Authority tightens rules of online videos

CHINA’S press and publication regulator has ordered Internet companies to delete videos that distort patriotic art.

The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) has issued a document strengthening to clear online audiovisual programs distorting patriotic art works, depicting popular children’s characters in sexual or violent scenarios, and spreading low-taste celebrity paparazzi content, luxury and hedonism.

Internet companies, including Youku, iQiyi, Tencent and Baidu, have deleted links and videos related to illicit content and closed more than 1,500 accounts.

The document said that such videos severely contaminated online ecology, jeopardized juveniles’ heathy growth, interfered with online order and were detested by the public. (Xinhua)
